The museum, which contains posters and statues of Hamedan’s luminaries is housed in one of the oldest edifices in Hamedan, the Bijan residence, which was bought and renovated by the HCHTHD, he added.
Statues of Ayn al-Quzat Hamadani, Mir Razieddin Artimani, Jamaleddin Asad Abadi, Karim Khan Zand, Khajeh Rashideddin Hamedani are currently on display at the venue, he said.
The statues of martyred Mohammad Mofatteh, Ali Akbar Nahavandi, Prophet Habakkuk, Baba Taher and Avicenna will be showcased at the museum in near future, he added.
The pottery museum was established in one of the oldest parts of the Hamedan city, Jolan region, on Sunday.
A collection of ceramics and potteries dated back to ancient time are currently on display at the museum, HCHTHD Deputy Director Alireza Izadi mentioned during the event.
According to an inscription attributed to the first Assyrian king, Hamadan’s was originally constructed in 1100 BC, but some historians believe the city dates back to 3000 BC.
Hamadan was established by the Medes and was the capital of the Median Empire. Hamadan is believed to be among the oldest Iranian cities and one of the oldest in the world.
